David Flynn

CEO

David Flynn has more than 20 years experience in the networking and security industries working with both software and hardware products. He was Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at NetScreen Technologies from 1999 to 2004 where he drove marketing, product and corporate strategy leading to a successful IPO and the eventual $4 billion sale of the company to Juniper Networks. At Juniper, David served as Vice President of Products for the Security Products Group. Prior to NetScreen he worked at 3Com Corporation for 8 years, where he held various marketing and product management positions including Vice President of Marketing for the architecture and software operation in the Client Access Business Unit. David has an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a bachelor's degree in economics from Williams College, Williamstown, MA.

Devin Akin

Chief Wi-Fi Architect

Devin Akin has over 10 years in the wireless LAN market and over 15 years in information technology, co-founding CWNP, the de facto standard for vendor-neutral Wi-Fi training and certification, and Peachtree Wireless Solutions, a vendor-specific training and services company. Devin served as CTO for both companies until 2009, authoring several exams, white papers, and courseware as the principal subject matter expert, and he served as the primary speaker, instructor, blogger, and consultant for CWNP. He regularly assisted a wide variety of Wi-Fi industry manufacturers with product and marketing strategy, quality assurance, and workforce education and regularly keynoted vendor summits and wireless user conferences.

Devin's background includes working as a network design engineer for EarthLink, AT&T/BellSouth, Foundry Networks, and Sentinel Technologies as well as working as an RF engineer in the U.S. Army. He has authored and edited several books with Wiley-Sybex and McGraw-Hill and holds some of the industry's most esteemed certifications, including CWNE, MCNE, MCSE, CCNP, CCDP, CCSP, and INFOSEC. He is considered an authority on Wi-Fi technology.

Gordon Brooks

Chief Financial Officer

Gordon C. Brooks, Aerohive’s CFO, has more than 20 years of industry experience. Before joining Aerohive, Gordon was CFO at Blue Coat Systems, a public networking/security appliance company acquired by private equity firm Thoma Bravo in February 2012. Gordon served as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Blue Coat from 2009 to 2012, managing finance and accounting functions, investor relations, order administration, manufacturing operations and facilities. Prior to Blue Coat, Gordon served as vice president of corporate finance at VMware, following his role as chief financial officer for Spikesource. Previously, Gordon worked in senior finance positions at several high tech companies, including BEA Systems, Inc., Microsoft and WebTV Networks. He began his career as an auditor for Ernst & Young.

Adam Conway

Vice President of Product Management

Adam Conway is Vice President of Product Management at Aerohive Networks, Inc. He brings over a decade of experience in the development of networking equipment. Previously Adam ran product management for the branch office and mid-market firewall and router platforms for Juniper Networks and NetScreen Technologies; a role that included managing the Juniper wireless products.

Adam started his career at Cisco Systems as an engineer on the design team for low-end IOS routers including such blockbuster products as the Cisco 2500, 1700, 1600 and 800 series routers. Adam Conway Received an MS in Engineering from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Santa Clara University. Adam has authored networking and wireless patents.

Steve Debenham

Vice President of Legal Services

Steve Debenham joins the Aerohive team as VP of legal services and general counsel. A seasoned senior legal executive with over 20 years of industry and private practice experience, Steve has served in several senior executive and general counsel positions, focusing on early and mid-stage high-growth companies, including Silicor Materials, Asyst Technologies, HARRIS myCFO Inc. and Lam Research Corporation. Prior to his in-house experience, Steve was a partner in a San Francisco Bay Area law firm, focusing on intellectual property litigation.

Long Fu

Vice President of Engineering

Long Fu most recently was Aerohive's Director of Engineering for the HiveManager platform, consistently delivering complex, feature-rich products. Long brings to the table over 20 years of experience in engineering management, system engineering/architecture and software/firmware development. Prior to joining Aerohive, he was breaking new ground with Infoblox, and delivering carrier class systems at market-leading companies including Alcatel, BNR, and Ciena.

Raphaël Gernez

Vice President of Operations

Raphaël Gernez brings more than 20 years of Supply Chain experience in leading Operational Excellence in competitive businesses (Consumer PC, Flat Panel TV, e-reader, Solar). Raphaël came from SunPower, where, as VP Global Sourcing and Purchasing, he and his team achieved up to 35% cost reduction on components by building world class processes for vendor management and cost reduction. As VP, Product Supply Chain at Plastic Logic (e-reader product), Raphaël reduced the COGS by 30% by implementing and managing outsourcing business models (Taiwan and China). Prior to Plastic Logic, Raphaël spent 19 years at Hewlett-Packard where he was General Manager of the HP Flat Panel TV global business unit, growing the business from zero to $120M revenue. Previously, Raphaël held many senior positions in the HP Consumer PC group where he helped grow the business from inception to the global market share leader. Raphaël holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (Design and Manufacturing) from Ecole Centrale of Nantes in France.

Gareth Green

General Manager, International 

Gareth has over ten years experience in the networking industry in EMEA. Before joining Aerohive, Gareth was the VP EMEA for Network Engines where he was responsible for sales, channels and strategic partner alliances in the region. Prior to Network Engines, Gareth served as VP Enterprise for Juniper Networks through its acquisition of NetScreen Networks. During the six year period Gareth spent as VP EMEA for NetScreen, Gareth was responsible for the strategies and development of theentire Netscreen EMEA business. He helped establish NetScreen as a key network security vendor in the EMEA marketplace, taking the company from an unknown start-up to revenues to in excess of $120 million. Prior to Netscreen, Gareth was a Co-Founder and Director of Congress Communications, a European based start-up incubator taking US companies into EMEA and worked with over 20 companies including, Ipswitch, Arrowpoint, Ramp Networks, Apogee, Indus River, and Ipivot.

Dean Hickman-Smith

Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales

Dean Hickman-Smith takes on his position as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Aerohive with years of success multiplying sales for technology companies. He joins from data protection solutions provider Proofpoint. Prior to Proofpoint, he led worldwide sales for ConSentry Networks, Inc. Dean has also overseen global sales teams at Juniper Networks and NetScreen where he drove 100 percent year-over-year growth. Dean also co-founded Congress Communications where he helped technology start-ups in Europe accelerate sales. He is a former commissioned officer in the UK Royal Air Force.

Bill Hoppin

Vice President of Business Development

Bill Hoppin leads business development activity for Aerohive and is responsible for strategic and partner relationships. Prior to joining Aerohive, Hoppin was VP of sales and business development at Audience a leading supplier of voice processor chips for the mobile market where he built and managed sales and support growing the business from pre-product to $50M in annual revenue in four years and established strategic partnerships with key mobile ecosystem drivers leveraging Audience authored ITU standards. Prior to that he was VP of Sales & Marketing at WiFi video module supplier Adimos, where he drove numerous strategic design wins, as well as at high-speed interconnect supplier Accelerant Networks, where he re-aligned the product offering, gained key design wins, supporting a successful acquisition by Synopsys. As VP of Sales & Marketing at Celeritek, a leading provider of power amplifiers for mobile terminals, Hoppin built a 60-person sales team and drove revenues to triple in 2001 to $130 million supporting a successful IPO and secondary offering. Bill holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, and is the author of numerous articles on wireless and data communications.

Changming Liu

Founder and CTO

Changming Liu is the co-founder of Aerohive Networks, Inc. Changming has been a key architect and technical manager for over 15 years in the Data Networking industry. Prior to founding Aerohive, he was a Distinguished Engineer at Juniper networks. Previously he held other key positions with Nortel Networks, Vistar Telecommunications, and NetScreen Technologies. Changming holds a B.Sc in Computer Science from Tsinghua University in Beijing and received his Masters in Computer and Electrical Engineering from Queen's University in Canada. Changming is the author of more than ten Networking Patents.

Stephen Philip

Vice President of Corporate and Product Marketing

Stephen Philip is an industry professional with more than 25 years of experience in the telecoms, enterprise networking and security industries. Prior to Aerohive Networks, Stephen was at Juniper/NetScreen for six years, where he held the positions of Senior Director of Product Marketing, Juniper Security Products, Director of Product Marketing and Director of Americas Marketing NetScreen Technologies. Stephen has also worked at a number of Vendors, Carriers and System Integrators including 3Com, British Telecom, Infotron Systems and Telecom Australia.
