Wireless LAN Expert Devin Akin Joins Aerohive Networks
Industry Authority to Focus on Technical Solutions and Customer Advocacy as Chief Wi-Fi Architect
SANTA CLARA, Calif., September 14, 2009 — Aerohive Networks, creators of the award-winning cooperative control wireless LAN (WLAN) architecture, announced today that wireless LAN expert Devin Akin has joined the company as Chief Wi-Fi Architect. In this role, Akin will serve as an internal customer advocate and contribute to the development of Aerohive's pioneering wireless LAN products. In 1999, Akin co-founded CWNP, the recognized industry standard for vendor-neutral enterprise Wi-Fi training and certification, where he served as the company's chief technical officer and vice president of business development. At CWNP, Akin was the primary author and product director for CWNP's exams, course materials, and white papers; he served as the company's principal instructor, speaker, and subject matter expert; and he managed a group of 30 instructors who teach an industry-standard Wi-Fi training and certification program that collectively has certified more than fifteen thousand Wi-Fi network administrators, consultants, and sales professionals. He also served as a Wi-Fi technology and product consultant to Fortune 1000 companies, the U.S. government, universities, and Wi-Fi manufacturers.
In 2006, Akin co-founded Peachtree Wireless Solutions, an enterprise WLAN training and consulting company that provides local and international CWNP and vendor-specific training and services.
Akin has also held various network and systems engineering positions at Earthlink, Foundry Networks, BellSouth/AT&T, and Sentinel Technologies. He holds some of the industry's most esteemed networking certifications and has authored five books for McGraw-Hill and Sybex.
