Aerohive’s API Platform provides a set of powerful APIs that enable enterprises and retail customers to leverage their Wi-Fi network data through customized applications and networking integrations. Network Equipment APIs

Features of the Application Platform
The location APIs enable a variety of use cases relevant to retail and enterprise customers. Example uses include heat maps that show where in stores customers spend more time, or how many customers are present in stores over the course of a day. This data can be used to optimize staff presence, shorten queuing time or analyze repeat visit patterns of known customers. Another example are time-and-attendance applications that analyze presence of employees inside a corporate building.
Key API features:
- Data about the devices on the network, like current location or presence.
- Streaming location data to customer servers in real time, for further processing or for storage.
The API Platform offers a rich set of APIs for managing and distributing user credentials. In combination with Aerohive’s unique private PSK feature, it is possible to create customized workflows for secure, profile-based network access for employees personal and guest devices.
Example uses for identity APIs are BYOD management in enterprises, self-service on-boarding of personal devices in enterprises and education organizations or automation of password installation for large numbers of student devices in K-12 schools.
Monitoring APIs include a robust set of functionality that will be especially useful to SPs/MSPs and large enterprises. Use cases include integration of Aerohive Wi-Fi network data into consolidated management systems that aggregate data from multiple networks and/or customers; or the creation of customized, role-based dashboards so that the relevant information is presented for different user groups. As an example, the marketing and IT departments in a retail corporation require different views of network data.
Monitoring APIs are separated into:
- Network equipment APIs that expose data about the Access Points, switches and routers on the network.
- Device APIs that expose data about the end-user devices on the network.
A comprehensive program supports our development partners so that they can fully leverage the APIs and shorten time-to-deployment of their applications and system integrations.
Our developer portal lets partners access the APIs, documentation and sample code. Support for development partners is also provided through the portal. In addition, Aerohive provides reference applications, to illustrate sample use cases and speed up development time.
A state-of-the-art Big Data platform ensures that network data can be collected and shaped to fuel APIs that support customers’ and developers’ current and future needs. Big Data processing pipelines support aggregation of Aerohive network data. This ensures complete flexibility in the analysis of data, for example by features, services or industry requirements.

The StoreTraffic reference application uses the location and presence APIs to illustrate how Aerohive Wi-Fi network data can drive powerful retail analytics for store managers and marketing departments.
The Guest Check-In application uses the identity APIs. It illustrates an employee-administered workflow for creating network keys for visitors and shows sample statistics about the visitor population.

Retail analytics provide highly relevant information to support a variety of decisions, from promotions planning to employee scheduling. Aerohive and Cloud4Wi have partnered to provide retailers with a powerful Wi-Fi solution to implement omnichannel retailing and engage with customers more quickly and easily.
Simplified on-boarding of personal devices
The College of Idaho used our Identity APIs to develop a new self-service feature that lets students generate secure network keys for their personal devices. The feature was simply added to the existing student portal, Yotenet.
