Network World 802.11n Review
To demonstrate what our performance would have been without the software issues that we experienced during the testing, we commissioned the Veriwave Testing Lab and used the same equipment and test suite as the Network World tests. These results were validated by Veriwave, but of course could not be considered by Network World as they were not done at the same time in the same lab.
The tables and graphs below display the retest results, highlighted in purple, next to the NWW results that we were provided. Tables 1 & 3 and Graphs 1 & 2 show the NWW test results and the retests done in Veriwave labs for the throughput tests.

PoE Testing
The testing represents an accurate power consumption of 802.11n APs given a high power source (eg POE+), but it would not take into account automatic power consumption adjustment features like Aerohive's smart PoE. This feature which measures the available PoE power only goes into operation if the power is limited to standard 802.3af power.
If the power available for this test had been limited to the 802.3af spec, then Aerohive's smart PoE would have reduced the total HiveAP power consumption by turning off the second (unused) gigabit Ethernet port and reducing both the radio's to 2x3 MIMO.
