Cleaner Network Integration and Easier Upgrade from Fat APs
Aerohive HiveAPs (Cooperative Control Access Points, or CC-APs) can directly replace legacy autonomous access points, providing all of the benefits of a controller, without the need to add controllers or re-architect the network. This means that IT departments can leverage their existing security, policy and monitoring approaches and do not need to modify subnets or VLANs within their networks to accommodate a controller-based wireless overlay network.
Aerohive also enables easy migration to 802.11abg or 802.11n from fat access points. If HiveAPs are deployed on the same subnet or VLAN as an enterprise's fat access points, network users can operate on both networks they can even roam between the HiveAPs and the fat access points, which is often not possible with controller-based 802.11n deployments.
