Course Outline

Each student connects to HiveManager, a remote PC, and a HiveAP over the Internet from their wireless enabled PC in the classroom, and then performs hands on labs that cover the following topics.

  • HiveManager concepts and administration
  • WLAN policy design and implementation
  • HiveAP and HiveManager management and administration
  • Understanding wireless measurements
  • Policy enforcement at the edge with user profiles
  • Cooperative Control overview
  • VLAN and routing strategy
  • Stateful L2/L3/L4 IP firewall policies
  • Advanced QoS concepts and design
  • MAC Routing, best path forwarding, and resiliency
  • Wireless mesh
  • 802.1X/AAA overview and configuration
  • Guest management using Captive Web Portal and GuestManager

Prerequisites

  • Completion of the Aerohive Introduction to WLAN Configuration (AIWC) online training simulation. This training can be found by clicking on the following link. It should not take more than 20 minutes to complete. http://www.aerohive.com/training/cbt

Required Equipment

  • In order to participate in the labs, each student must bring their own 802.11g/a or 802.11n Wi-Fi enabled laptop with updated wireless drivers
