Fayetteville State University Achieves Immediate ROI with Campus-wide Cloud Networking by Aerohive®
Milpitas, Calif. — November 21, 2017 — Aerohive Networks® (NYSE:HIVE), a Cloud Networking Leader, today announced that Fayetteville State University (FSU), located in North Carolina, chose Aerohive for comprehensive enterprise Wi-Fi access across its campus, saving more than $600,000 and ensuring a scalable solution for years to come.
In celebrating its 150th year anniversary, Fayetteville State University is the second-oldest public institution in the state of North Carolina and has a nationally recognized academic program with more than 66 education programs spread across the arts and sciences, business and economics, and education. FSU has a student enrollment of over 16,000 students, 1,500 of whom live on campus, and employs more than 1,000 faculty and staff.
With heightening expectations for BYOD, repeated hardware failures and poor performance, as well as the emergence of 802.11ac wireless technology, the IT team at FSU was compelled to rapidly make decisions about upgrading and expanding their network access, performance, and security.
Aerohive was able to provide comprehensive coverage with fewer access points, which enabled FSU to meet budget requirements and save costs. Where other solutions fell short in pilot testing, the Aerohive solution exceeded expectations.
“With a robust Aerohive solution in place at Fayetteville State University, the campus now enjoys comprehensive coverage and high availability,” said Nate Gantt, network specialist, Fayetteville State University. “Regardless of what is thrown at the network, from high density in residence halls to large campus-sponsored events, the IT team does not worry about Wi-Fi. On top of that, the Aerohive solution has delivered immediate ROI, saving FSU more than $600K and ensuring a rock-solid solution that will easily scale in the years to come.”
FSU deployed more than 550 Aerohive indoor and outdoor access points to accommodate more than 6,000 devices on average connecting to the network each day.
The School of Business and Economics saw a huge improvement immediately with Aerohive. The school had already invested $80K into failing wireless solutions, and the Aerohive solution realized a cost savings of 50 percent with superior connectivity.
